MAIN MODIFICATIONS : Toyota Hilux Vigo has an extra
Derale transmission cooler and Detroit 187SL61B Rear-Locker and ARB RD-111
Front Air Locker. Also a front steel bumper with an SS120HF Safari
Snorkel and 9.5XP Warn Winch. Fabication work includes a supplemented Tacoma
3 inch body lift and body work to fit KL71 Kumho 35 inch tall tyres on Dick
Cepek 17s. Differential ratio Ring & Pinion changed to 4.56 from 3.9091 to
restore OEM factory engine rpm for the larger 35s..
Suzuki Samurai has power steering (and
1.6L Engine) and Front & Rear Detroit EZ Lockers and rides on 35s. Has
2.5inch Body Lift and 2 inch Shackle Suspension Lift with SPOA. Roll cage is
an Exo-Cage. Differential R+P ratios are 5.29 (difficult to get for Samurai)
for the larger 35s.Has rear diff 3rd member in
the front diff fousing with 26 spline chromoly alloy front axles and
birfields.
MODIFICATIONS PLANNED : Change Zuki rear axle to a custom offset Toyota
pickup axle housing and axles for Grade 4+ trails. Vigo to get a Total Chaos
upper swing arm but otherwise keep as is and out of harms way for a few more
years.
BEST 4WD TRIP : Cumaca Platinal Overnight Run when it used to be Grade 4
WORST 4WD EXPERIENCE : Diaz Road Trail Roll-Over off river/stream bank
WORST BREAKAGE : Broken Zuk Rear Axle on Verdant Vale Trail with 35s and
Broken Zuk front Birfield on Indian Walk even with only 31s.
FAVORITE TRAIL MEAL : Curry Duck (first,second and third choice)
DREAM 4WD VACATION : LandRover Advanced Off Road School in Solihul while
visiting with niece and family in Birmingham UK. Or a Western Australia 4WD
vacation with my wife.
