TRAIL REPORTS

Well guys, it was another one of those G-10 trails. It is a continuation of the first section, but worse and the rains did not help. “We could really pic em”.

We tried, and the departure would have been on time except for the scrutineering. Everyone made it on time and it gave the scrutineer one minute to do all six vehicles. Any way we departed at approx. 8.10 am and made two stops on route. One for getting supplies, drinks, snacks, food etc and the other to carry out minor mechanical repairs to El Toro. The gathering was Calvin, Trevor, Peter, Frankie, Sheldon, Tony Q, Raffick.

We arrived at the trail site at approx. 10.15am and joining us were Wesley, Joanne, Shane and Fareed. It was the fastest trail ever attempted for the year 2007.Our intension was to arrive alive at the Navet Dam. Every attempt to conquer any trail thus far to the legendary Navet Dam prove to become a challenge for TTORC members and so far we are unable to do so.

Approx. ¾ KM into the trail and two shower of rain and three stuck vehicles , we had to make a decision to proceed or cancel our efforts. Of course despite the encouraging attempts to proceed, the events manager in consultation with other members after evaluating the situation decided on the latter.

The trail proved to be unconquerable with the heavy downpour and the heavier vehicles on trail and in the best interest of the group we decided to return to base.

There were some challenges during our short stay that took almost three hours. It was mud, mud and more mud and the combination of a deadly plume that engulf the valley we had to evacuate even faster as the soon to be posted pictures will reveal.

We however decided and as the saying goes” if Muhammed cannot go to the mountain then the Mountain must go to him”. We took the easy way out and via the black carpet we located the lost Navet Dam.

Lunch was served and with the “biggest raw, cold dogs I have ever seen, Trevor decided to have them distributed. This together with a “well preserved” Chinese styled chicken made it worth the while. All that with the compliment of Trevor. This was topped up with cold drinks and of course hot coffee and yes some mangoes.

It was one of those trails not worthy of remembering. We should ask Trevor.

Any way we departed the Navet grounds and on our return the “lil boyz witz big toys” who couldn’t get enough had to diverge into another trail to play in the mud. That’s another trail we’ll have to attempt. A hill similar to M t. O Toto but about ten times longer stopped us. However with approx. 4.5 tons of mud removed from that trail gave satisfaction to all.

GOOD ATTEMPT GUYS. Raff.

Folks,

While we did not reach the dam from the Brickfield entrance, yesterday's trail proved to be quite some fun! I was happy with the decision to turn back, after being soaked to the bone (like the fella who went Store Bay) I could not consider the thought of coming out the forest late in the night again. Coming up the last hill proved to be nice and slippery and I got the chance to repay Raff with a lil push up for his mechanical repairs to my drive-shaft. (Frankie was the 1st to dive under El Toro, but he was either stunned by the technology or had his dark shades on, either way the A-class Toyota mechanic was called in).

Calvin Frankie and myself returned to the bottom of the hill to get a 2nd run at it, lucky for them they came up before me. The 'Green Worrier' came kitted with copper clutch and sun-roof for the storm, this however only serve to get a lot of 'red flowers' hooking up on his roof.

Finally getting to the dam was nice and scenic and interesting. I had my best trail food so far, Carol's bread and cheese-paste with Tara's 'chicken & noodles flavored pepper'. I did promise to try and get Frankie and Gauph at the meeting point before the start, Frankie was only 5-minutes late and Gauph is another story, oh well I would try harder next time with these two fellas!

The trail looked easy enough......until it rained...!!!

Which proved a challenge for one member (who lost his wife and joined a political party in the process)...!
Check out the umbrella through the "sexy" sunroof  !!

Hercules continued to give problem...but Tony came to the rescue with a spare coil borrowed from Trevor.

It rained, we got wet....and don't be fooled by the flat looking trail!!

Three Suzuki's made it over the river ...AND BACK.

When the rain eased up some fun was had.....and the insect vector fumigation vehicle was much in evidence.

The compulsory group shot..Tony taking picture....and a hill "too far" somewhere near the dam.

Men talking....and the Insect Vector vehicle at rest.

Goliath in action....and looking mean from behind.

Finally... (after a few miles of "black roading"...we sweet talked our way into Navet dam.

More shot..including MIA Joanna...what males you think its still raining..??

Machines at rest ...on the crest.

And the conclusion.....late lunch.....
