Fund Raising BBQ
June 30th, 2007

The first installment of what we hope to make an annual fundraising event came off quite successfully today.

The objectives were-

1. Provide an avenue for building team-spirit within the club
2. Attract new members
3. Provide an event for family members who do not go on trails
4. Make some money to pursue other club activities.

The teams had to get together the night before to peel several bags of potatoes, dice several more bags of carrots and wash even more pounds of chicken until late into the night. We then had to start cooking everything at the crack of dawn the following day.

Every member who undertook to sell tickets did so and turned in the funds on time. Many members also sought and received corporate sponsorship of food items and/or sponsored items themselves, ensuring a decent profit margin.
Thank you.

Several visitors with modified 4x4 vehicles spent a few hours with us and expressed interest in the club. We look forward to welcoming them as new members.

Special thanks to Carlvin  for the concept and brilliant execution of the project; for the use of his home as a base for preparing the BBQs; and for enduring the ketchup and pepper-sauce spilled on his tiled floor at 11pm Friday. Further thanks to his wife, his family and other women who helped in the meal preparation and clean-up.

All the BBQ meals were sold. We even had a few people who wanted to purchase extra meals; unfortunately we could not accommodate them because we just did not have any extra.

Thanks to the TTORC membership for the support of the project. We have shown that we can execute the big projects.

See you same time next year.....President Gary
