A few members decided to join me in taking my
visiting friend Feraz (and TTORC parts courier) on a
trail. Calvin and SuperZ came up with this trail which was recently attempted by
Trail Blazers.
A few members and Feraz however pulled out at the last minute leaving Calvin, SuperZ, Paul, myself and 2 visitors Roger & Reeza to hit the trail. After leaving Calvin's at 10am equipped with 'oildown', steamed yam and dasheen and stew chicken we stopped of at the Willamsville supermarket to load the cooler, we then proceeded to a roadside location for a lunch break. We arrived at the Piparo entrance where Calvin decided to take the lead.
The trail proved to be very challenging from the
start and at our first water crossing (thanks WASA!) Calvin got to test his
winch on his 'new' jeep which was previously owned by Geoffrey.
One by one we pulled together with further challenges where we sometime had to
use 2 ropes and 2 jeeps to pull one. The hours went bye and we found ourselves
in the forest too late to turn back and hoping for a streetlight ahead.
This was not to be and at 8.00pm we were using both Paul and Calvin winches to pull SuperZ through some heavy mud. We were finally out at the WASA station at 10pm where we had some refreshments and cleaned off a bit.
The adventure was not yet done as we stopped at Brickfield Junction SuperZ back axel broke! One call to Roy's friend Ricky and we had a wrecker there in half-hour! (Thanks Ricky!) We never did catch up with Ricky and Z. We all reached home between 1-2 am broken physically but not in Spirit. I know soon enough we would be back on this trail, Frankie is already eating up himself!........Sheldon
