Might Trail to Quarry

March 17th, 2007

Five jeeps were sent off by David LS from the Gasparillo highway turnoff.  We met   Deonarine with his hi lux  at Williamsville where we stopped for additional supplies.  Frankie found coolant for ten dollars a gallon. Do not accept any Gatorade from him for a while.

Drove to Mozart's Ranch, the well equipped and comfortable facility at Piparo. While we were eating pre cooked curry goat and chicken and roti, pots were  already on the fire for later meals. Talk about focus. Four more vehicles found us by following the aroma of Calvin cooking his layers. It would have been easier for them if they waited until the manicou from Frankie's backyard was being chonkayed.

At 11:00 pm we set off for a trail where "car kyah pass". Roll and Roland stayed back to finish the pots and prepare the mother in law which is ninety eight percent scotch bonnet.

With Mr. Mozart as our guide we came to a bridge with grass and missing planks. Director Shane guided us all safely across. Then we came to the Pond - an excavation in progress for we assume irrigation purposes. The guys treated it like BMX'ers do a quarterpipe. Calvin christened his new acquisition by conquering the steepest incline.

Then to Piparo volcano.  While some of us were enjoying the view and the midnight breeze, Jason got himself stuck in a crevasse (canal?). Before winching him out, Paul crossed the same canal, with his front wheel three feet off the ground at one point - demonstrating (maybe not so modestly) what great driving and good equipment can do.

Back to Mozart's.  More food. Layers, manicou, steamed yam, Roll's family. The guys then sat around discussing major historical events and philosophical issues. At three o' clock we woke up Sheldon and set off for home.

We did not go to the Batchasing Quarry as planned because it was in operation.  But it can be used again as a good excuse for exploring and eating.

Thanks to members Paul, Calvin, Frankie, Jason, Roll, Shane, Sheldon, Raymond, Deonarine, Roland, Kendall, and their guests for a very enjoyable evening.

Special thanks to Mr.Mozart for again being so generous with his facilities.

Trevor.
