Indian Trail.
August 14th, 2005

The much fabled Indian Trail is held in awe by our club, and this year we added a new dimension... a literary debate on the Club's Bulletin Board but before and after the run.

There are some excellent trail photos submitted by Paul Tiah, Sherlon Mohommed and PQT below but before you go there you must read the gripping Trail Report by Barrie Landreth-Smith. (Click here)

-----------------------------------------------------

Like all visits to Indian Trail, the day started uneventfully with Event's Manager Shane leading us through a gap in the hedge.

and everything went smoothly as this shot over President Paul's bonnet shows. The downhill runs posed no problem

Even the tall grass couldn't defeat us as Shane led the way.

All in all a relaxing morning as exemplified by Shane seen on the left pic with new member Raffick Mohammed and his son, existing member Sherlon Mohammed.

..and in the right hand pic, our president is regaling other members with stories of trails of yesteryear.

Hercules came fully equipped while Frankie shows off his skills.

The dynamic father and son team of Raffick and Sherlon Mohammed make light work of this hill while Keith practices for his next attempt at Roll Model of the year.

Our President Paul set the standard with his tow ropes in place at all times, and yet he still found time to make running repairs.

---------------------------------------------

but then a certain machine carrying the handle "Blue Thunder", seen here at rest...

attracted the attention of that harbinger of doom...the corbeaux......a warning we would have been well advised to heed.

The first to fall prey was the venerable Hercules seen here being towed by a Suzuki by another vehicle.

To give you some idea of the scale of the setting, our intrepid web site manager, PQT, climbed to the top of the nearest hill. Why didn't you run up to join me David?

Yes that's the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the background and down in the valley the heavier vehicles are all having trouble.

Of course within every main story there are lots of sub plots. For example here we see a certain Sun Goddess named Sunita, trying to lure the young Garfh away from his off roading duties. Notice the use of the hands!

But Garfh is a man of the world and just by casually rolling up his T shirt, he showed he was far more interested in Egbert's imitation of a broken leg. Ahh..the power of a telephoto lens from that same hilltop.

Then there was our President Paul, patiently watching and waiting for a chance to pull Blue Thunder, seen here applying some brother love in the form of a pull out for brother David.

But it wasn't to be as Mud Lover and Blue Thunder sneaked away through the cane to "live and fight another day"

Then we had the amazing sight of three grown men crawling around on hands and knees looking for someone's radiator cap!!

But the real fun hadn't even started. While there were mutterings in the lower ranks about it being time to find a bar and take a drink, the Club's Executive decided we had to have one more run in the cane.

So like a true leader, our President managed to get himself truly "stuck in the mud". Luckily he was saved by his winch but not before "giant" Egbert and his team of dwarfs did their bit to get him even more stuck.

Even Shane tried to help..(we are not quite sure what he was doing but various explanation have been offered including "Hey Shane, our secret is out my dearest honey bun, looking forward to our weekend together in Mayaro!" from Paul, this one from Keith "Check it for me... I have something in my hand", Sunita's suggestion “Can you see it now?????” and from the Club's Doctor "uh...uh... uh... AAAAHHHHHH!"

and there the day would have ended except that a certain member had upset the corbeaux of Indian Trail who summoned the Gods of Rain, Lightning and Thunder to descend upon us at the very moment we were all out of our vehicles.

I believe the correct metrological term is "rain like peas boy" and we were in a valley which quickly turned into a raging river. Only two vehicle made it up the cane encrusted side of the valley to the safety of the hill tops. Luckily for the others, a route was found out of the valley otherwise it would have been a long night of winching. Who were the two? Well President Paul was one and this picture of a certain god like creature surveying his domain should give you a clue to the name of the other.

A brilliant days run. Well done everyone who took part.
