Caroni - Grade 1

It all started with Gary's back tyre running flat under the tree at UWI South Gate, which delayed the on time departure. However this was used to the advantage of all the members present along with a few well wishers who came to see us off and share in our excellent camaraderie.

Once Gary's tyre was changed we were off, proceeding up the highway to Piarco and then turning onto old factory Rd, which then took us to the mouth of the trail where Geoffrey was stung by some flying creature.

Through the fields we went, with Edward gingerly pausing twice to make sure he was not in any ruts or holes to damage his beautiful Terios.

After a lovely scenic drive through the farmers fields and following the power line, there it was the golden banks of the river.

We lined up and one by one we went over to the other side, where we relaxed and had a photo session demonstrating what 30 degrees of pitch & 0 degree of yaw/roll looks like.

After the brief interlude we did a circuit along the river bank with our illustrious President taking the time out ever so often to do a few donuts before getting back on track.

We then went up a slight incline and then it was back to the river for some fun.

However what was to come was never anticipated.

With Grade 4+ Off Roading blood pumping through their veins Paul and Shane headed down the banks and into the stream to have some fun and fun they did have till Paul drove into a sink and down he went front first with his hood nearly submerged. Then there was a baritone voice shattering the radio silence help, Help, HELP.

Shane & Egbert moved into action as they were the closest ones there. After a few good tugs, Paul was out, with stories to tell for life, which we all know would change as time goes by. The only thing though is we all forgot to check if his seat was wet & this we shall never know.

After a little while assessing the damage we were on the move again to Egbert's home. We were warmly greeted by Beanker and Leah along with the two youngest budding Off Roaders known.

A gastronomic meal was had by all along with a few cold ones.

Shivanand & co dropped by later and the day's other highlight commenced. Where members demonstrated their skills at riding a motorcycle which also happened to be Egbert's other Suzuki.

Almost all of the members took turns. There was even talk of a name change for the Club; Mr. 2 wheeler Club.

After much more camaraderie it was time to say good bye and place that day in the memoirs as another excellent day of Off Roading.

Thanks to all who helped make the day a tremendous success.

A brief briefing before we depart

In search of whatever stung Geoff.

Cautious driving for the Terios, the deep ruts proved to be too much for the original suspension, and he had to straddle them.(which he did with ease!)

And the fun begins with this simple water crossing.

What a view these guys had.

Barrie climbs with ease.

The only Grade1 vehicle on the trail, Edwards Terios, makes the descent.

Easier than he thought, the Terios performed fine with the A/T tyres.

Gary begins his descent.

Up….Up….and Away!
