Gunapo Heights proved to be quite a challange. Definately Grade 4. Six vehciles went in and all went well until the first stream crossing which had a large log on the opposite side. This one "stumped" Gary's landrover as he had no locking diffs and only tractor tyres on the front. However Sham breezed over the obstacles and here is a few shots of Tony making his way across....
....closely followed by Shane....
Then it was up the hill ...here's Gary approaching a nice rock in the road....
before we reached to a difficult negative camber right turn.
Here's Wellsely taking it gently
With all vehicle across safely and then it was time to tackle two fallen trees.
Here's Keith's solution...
...but he soon joined up with Shane and the chain saw...
....while Wellesley and Gaufh dealt with the upper section..
We put a good couple of hours work in before the chain on the chain saw broke which was a good excuse to retire to the river where Raymond, Paul, Dale and Vanessa had been bubbling a pot.
But it wasn't to be so easy. That same negative camber turn
caused Gary to do the most amazing roll over virtually onto his roof and then
back onto four wheels again (hopefully Shane has some pictures)
This prompted the team led by Sham to dig out some of the offending bank.
Here's Tony, a town boy, showing Sham, a country man, how to hold the fork!
Meanwhile being the Manager of the Event,
Shane exercised his prerogative and supervised.
To cut a long story short we all made it back to the river, enjoyed some excellent cooking and then repaired to a bar for some ole talk and a Carib.
A day well spent.
